The Lung Logger App
Shortly after my lung transplant I immediately grew tired of writing down my daily health readings. Heart rate, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, incentive spirometer, FEV1, PEF, and how much I exercised. Trying to look back on them to identify trends like "am I actually getting healthier?" wasn't easy to see.
Thankfully, throughout my life I've always been the type where when I get annoyed by a problem, I try to find a solution for the problem. It's sort of a hobby of mine, but sometimes it becomes a bit of an obsession because I think most things should be easier than they are.
So I built myself a basic application that I installed on my phone and it worked great.
And then after a couple of months I realized, "hey, maybe I shouldn't be greedy, this can help people and maybe even save a few lives!"
So I reached out to a friend who I've known as a software developer for 25 years and along with a partner of his, we set to work on creating the first and only mobile application designed specifically for lung transplant patients, and it's called The Lung Logger and it's available on the Apple Store and Google Play.
The app is currently free, but we'll eventually have to charge a small fee since it does cost a few hundred dollars a year just to keep the servers online and the app listed in the stores, plus the cost of future development (my friend can't work on it for free forever).
The app provides basic tracking of all your basic lung testing, exercises, trend graphing, and the ability to export all your data for yourself or for your doctor.
We collect NO personally identifying information, and we don't sell or give your data to anyone. We don't need your name, where you're from, or anything, just your e-mail so that you can register your account and we can link it to someone in case they want their data permanently deleted from our servers. You control all your own data!
